About us
Data protection taught by someone who actually does it
reGDPR advises Irish and UK businesses on data protection every day and has been doing so since 2018. The Academy draws on this advice, the real world situations we have seen & breaks down the legal side of the GDPR guidance and regulations into a bitesized easy to understand hub of learning.
Why we built it
GDPR changes, the questions don't
Every week brought the same handful of questions. Does this go in the ROPA? Is that a DSAR? Can I keep this information? We have had a breach, what happens now? Can we put an AI note-taker on client calls?
They are good questions and the honest answers are usually short. The problem was never complexity of the topic, it was that the available training buried a two-minute answer inside a two-hour module written for people who already knew the law and all the lingo. We knew that from dealing with real people in real every day organisations that GDPR terrifies people and can be a real worry.
So we recorded the answers to these questions instead - simple questions, simple answers and nothing to be scared of. One question per lesson, in the words we would use on the phone. We then grouped them into courses so a person or team can work through a subject properly when they need to, and retain the information for the future.
Practicing, not theoretical
Written and delivered by a working DPO, from live client work rather than a syllabus. A real world course for real world problems.
Ireland and the UK
Shared principles taught together, with the divergences named in each video - the DPC and the ICO are not interchangeable.
Real questions
The curriculum came from the client inbox, which is why it covers disciplinary DSARs and AI note-takers amongst other situations, rather than only the basics.
Evidence, not assertion
Verifiable certificates, per-person progress, so "we trained the team" is something you can show.
